Our Story
Shakespeare Animal Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to save lives by paying emergency veterinary bills for elderly, disabled, returning veterans, and others whose pets are suffering and they don't have the funds to provide care.
Thousands of Northern Nevadans live alone, below the poverty line, and whose main "family" is their pet. They will do without medicine, food and other necessities to try to help their pet, and that's where Shakespeare Animal Fund steps in.
Founded in January 2004, Shakespeare Animal Fund has raised more than a million dollars to help local animals, but the need continuously grows; we get an average of 500 calls and emails each month from pet owners begging for help due to unexpected injuries or illnesses.
Whether it is a returning veteran whose dog means the world to him, a woman recovering from cancer whose cat has seen her through her illness, or a disabled man whose dog is the main reason he wakes up in the morning—they all need help, and Shakespeare Animal Fund is there to provide it.
